Liturgical Ministries

  • Acolytes

Serving at the altar, is a privileged way to draw closer to Jesus, which in turn "enables you to open yourselves to others." (Pope Francis) The acolyte fulfills numerous roles that are critical to the celebration of the liturgy. Children 4th grade and older have this great opportunity to contribute to the parish in a meaningful way and to learn more about their faith.

  • Eucharistic Minister

Eucharistic Ministers are parishioners who have an opportunity to literally follow Jesus’s command to “feed my sheep.” Eucharistic ministers take on the unique role of assisting the presider in distributing the Body and Blood of Christ to fellow parishioners during Mass.

  • Gift Bearers

The bread and wine that will become the Body and Blood of Christ are brought to the altar by members of the gathered faithful. These gift bearers represent the entire parish as we return to God a small part of the many blessings that He has given to us. This is a way for us to express thanks and joy to God.

  • Greeter

The greeter serves the community by recognizing and welcoming each member of the community as if that person were Christ. Offering a smile and a word of welcome can have a profound impact on people as they arrive, especially if they are visitors to Holy Family. Hospitality is the primary responsibility of the greeter.

  • Lector

During the liturgical celebration, it is the lector’s humbling privilege and responsibility to be the human voice of God’s Living Word. Proclamation of the scripture readings is more than simply reading. The lector’s proclamation engages the community of faith and prompts their response to God’s Word.

  • Music Ministry

Music communicates and expresses what words alone cannot. We at Holy Family parish believe that our liturgies and worship are enhanced with good, faith-filled music. To that end, we commit our time, resources and energy into making the best music we can with our talented volunteers. We strive for a variety of musical styles that enable us to touch every member of our community. Cantors, choir members and instrumentalists are always welcome to this ministry.

  • Sacristan

Sacristans assist, facilitate and provide support and coordination for other liturgical ministries. In addition, they make the necessary preparations for liturgical activities. In all situations, it is their duty to find workable solutions so that the liturgy is conducted as planned and the assembly may reverently, without interruption, worship, praise and invite God’s presence into their lives.

  • St. Veronica's Ministry (Altar Linens)

With deep love and reverence for the Holy Eucharist, the St. Veronica Ministry cleans and cares for the sacred linens on a rotating schedule. The cleaning of alter linens is a "behind the scenes" way to get involved in the source and summit of our faith: the Eucharist.

  • Usher

The usher has the opportunity and the responsibility to represent the rest of the assembly in offering hospitality. People’s impression of a parish is significantly shaped by the presence or absence of a welcoming atmosphere where they come to worship. In addition, the usher is responsible for the weekly stewardship of the faithful, as well as putting the church back in order following each liturgy.
